In this project the main hall of an old tile factory is converted simply and discreetly into a single-family house. The home is provided with thermal comfort in both winter and summer by combining wood, earth and straw on the North and South facades along with significant glazed portions toward the south. Many principles of sustainable building are applied in this project: active participation of the home owners in the construction, supply of structural wood from the same land, use of local natural insulator (wood wool) and recycled materials. These construction techniques produce a house of high level of thermal efficiency and comfort, stable humidity and unbeatable price per m2.
